Interview // Little Farm Media

A few weeks ago, Caitlin Bacher from Little Farm Media reached out and asked Kyla, Grace and me if we would like to be interviewed about our #foundforaged Instagram project. Um, heck yes! (Any chance to talk about your baby, right?)

Caitlin is a social media consultant for creatives, and her website is chalk full of really helpful advice and insights. I have gleaned a lot of wisdom from her, so it was really an honor to be invited!

The three of us sat down to answer some questions about how we met, how we started the tag, and the surprising adventure it's been since then. It was funny as I read through everyone's responses...I think it captures our group dynamic pretty well. Kyla is the go-getter, I'm the slacker, and Grace is the one in the middle making wise cracks.

I'd love for you to hop over and read the interview at Little Farm Media. Say hi to Caitlin and tell her I sent you!

You can also follow Caitlin's beautiful Instagram, where you can keep up with her great advice for creative business owners.

Thank you so much for having us Caitlin!

found & foraged link party no. 12 (my last!)

This is it! My last time hosting the Found & Foraged weekly link party. Sniff! The goal at the start was to get out there a little in the blogosphere, mix and mingle, and meet other bloggers. Mission accomplished! The overwhelming response to our little party will be one of those things I'll always treasure no matter where this blog ends up heading, and I've loved meeting ALL of you. Thank you for making this endeavor the success that it has been!

Tonight I'm sharing the four features that Kyla, Grace and I have selected one last time as a group, before we turn this ship over to Kyla to captain on her own. As she said last week on her blog, I'll still be linking up over there and visiting you guys and being a cheerleader in this amazing Found & Foraged community. I just don't have the boundless energy that Kyla does to continue to be the hostess that ya'll deserve!

And to further ensure that there are no tears tonight, NO worries about Instagram...#foundforaged will continue as always there. On to what we loved last week!

Hallway Makeover by Colour Saturated Life

Before I go, I thought it would be fun to do my own little round up of some great blogs that I was introduced to over the course of this challenge and some favorite projects that they shared.

F O U N D ,  F O R A G E D  &  F R I E N D S

And oh boy. As soon as I wrote those words out loud, I realized this is an impossible task. So just know up front that this is an incomplete list! It's the tip of the iceberg of the genuinely great girls I've met through this party.

1 // brave new home
8 // annabode
9 // t-shirt & jeans blog
10 // colour saturated life

I have loved getting to know you ladies!

And since I'm getting all sentimental on you anyway, want to know one of my favorite Found & Foraged moments? If you closely read the text in this link-up, you'll notice a short but heartfelt plea for someone to make me these crepes for Christmas morning. Well, someone did read it, and she actually sent the crepes TO MY HOUSE on Christmas Eve, all wrapped up and ready for the next morning. I still can't even believe it. So, huge enormous never-will-I-get-over-how-awesome-that-was thanks go to Stephanie Hickox, dear friend, for that insane treat. I almost love that you actually read the post more than I loved the crepes themselves. Almost.

Well guys, that's it! Please do be sure to visit Grace and give her some hearts as she also wraps up her time hosting, and then head to Kyla's to cheer her on for the next round. For tonight, you can still add your link ups below, but they'll be solely judged by the House of Hipsters. And that's where you'll head next week to see features and keep the party going.

found & foraged link party: penultimate episode

hello, happy saturday, and welcome to found & foraged! if you haven't been here before, hi! found & foraged is a weekly design challenge that i've been hosting with my buddies kyla and grace that gives us an opportunity to meet and celebrate other bloggers and creatives in our community.

this will be the second to last time that grace and i will be hosting! (no panic, kyla is going to carry the mantle and continue to host what i like to think of as "round two" so you'll still have a chance to keep showing off what you got). we are SO glad you're here!

this link-up has been great fun and i have met so many new bloggers and made awesome connections through it. it's been a privilege to be able to share your talented projects with a new audience, and i thank you for letting me do that. so, since this week will be my final time judging features, let's see 'em! i can't wait to see what the last round holds...if i know you guys by now, your A game is ready. next week i'll feature favorites from what you share below, and i'll also have a little round-up of some of the best new (to me) blogs i've found through this party. i can't wait!

(oh, and again, no panicking. all three of us will continue to host our hashtag challenge on instagram and regram our favorites on saturdays. tag any of your pictures #foundforaged to be featured!)

ok, ready to party one more time!?

dude, i am jumping up and down over this one. isn't it incredible?! and you HAVE to go see her post to peek at the original piece. the transformation is so rad.

admittedly, this DIY is more ryan's skill level than mine, but i can't even believe how cute this bottle holder is. i am so going to pass along this tutorial to my current clients who are going for a cottage-industrial look in their living room & kitchen. this would be perfect.

isn't this space the sweetest?! heather's post will show you the "before" of this dreamy attic space, and you'll be amazed at the transformation. warning: the previous wall color might make your eyes bleed. it's akin to a color my good friend holly once painted her bathroom. what looked like the perfect inky navy on a small paint chip was, in reality, a cobalt so bright that all my friend travis could exclaim upon seeing it was, "hot crap that's blue!!!"

from that moment on, any such blue has been dubbed "hot crap that's blue" in our circle of friends. i'm not sure why benjamin moore didn't return our phone calls when we pitched the concept for their new spring paint line.

this one was really interesting. you can see how aimee took a plain jane wood table and gave it a total makeover with white paint and concrete. in a million years, i never would have thought such a thing was possible.

by now you're aware of kyla's, grace's and my weakness for cocktail styling, which is kind of odd given the fact that the three of us really don't drink much! at alt i hopped in line for a salted caramel martini (i saw the words salted and caramel and didn't even think beyond that) and had to ditch that thing after three glorious sips. woo! even though i am a total wuss when it comes to libations, i can't help but love gazing at a perfectly styled cocktail. and those mugs tho. i'd order a drink just for one of those.

DIY "to-do" list wood organizer by hawthorne & main for this silly girl's life

i think this project organizer project would be great in my son's room, and it has so many versatile applications. you could really make it your own in a lot of different ways. love it, shonee!

and hey, can i just go on a tangent for a second? this party IS all about you guys and not what i'm doing, but i have written two posts recently that may be of particular interest to bloggers, and i thought since the majority of visitors to this party are bloggers, you all might find them helpful.

first, for anyone thinking of going to the altitude summit blogging conference, here is a round-up of my pictures from the trip that will give you a good idea of what you're getting into. i'd highly recommend the conference.

second, for my fellow instagram nerds, i wrote a post about hashtag challenges that you might find helpful. these are a great way to make connections on instagram. if you have some of your own or that you love to use, let's help each other out! please share them with everyone in the comments.

that post is actually kicking off a series i'll be writing the first half of this year with more tips and help on how you can have a great instagram feed and grow your reach there. i've put in a huge amount of time on instagram and was honored to be named by instagram to their suggested user list. i'm excited to organize my tips and share my knowledge with you guys about this community that's dear to my heart. you can sign up for my email list on the right sidebar to make sure you don't miss those!

alright blog friends, it's your turn! link up using the blue button below. it is a treat to see what you are working on & thank you for sharing it at found & foraged. i'll see you back here next week for my last time hosting and then i'll commit you into kyla's capable hands after that. i have loved getting to know you!

found & foraged link party no. 10

welcome to found & foraged! if you haven't been here before, hi! found & foraged is a weekly design challenge that i host with my buddies kyla and grace that gives us an opportunity to meet and celebrate other bloggers and creatives in our community. we are glad you're here!

below you'll see some posts we've chosen to feature from among those linked up last week, and if you're a blogger there's a spot for you to share what you have been working on at the bottom. one of my goals as someone relatively new to the online world has been to make some connections and build a community with my fellow creatives. so i really appreciate you stopping by and being a part of found & foraged!

even if you don't have a blog, there's still a place where you can join in and show off your found & foraged style. we host a hashtag challenge on instagram as well. tag any of your pictures #foundforaged and we regram our favorites. #foundforaged has become an amazingly fun part of IG and we have loved seeing it grow. i hope you'll find us there.

we love how ashley from bigger than the three of us updated her dining area with a simple can of paint. changing out the door & window trim from white to black gave her space an incredible upgrade that is modern and fresh, without taking a ton of time or money. awesome job, ashley!

is there anything not to love about this kitchen from jamie at so much better with age? i daily dream about replacing my upper cabinets with open shelves on top of subway tile. such a pretty look. love it jamie!

we're all pretty amazed with the black skinnies and vintage poncho that heather from thrift stories is rocking. she blogs about her vintage and thrift fashion finds, and i'm always in awe of how she pulls together outfits that are so current on such a tiny budget. she's proof that found & foraged design goes way beyond the four walls of our houses. isn't this look great?

anyone hacking anthro is a friend of mine. therefore tanya from twelveOeight blog is my friend. she takes a dollar store trashcan and turns it into a rope basket that would feel right at home in that grand store. quick, what else can i cover in rope right now?!

L A U R A ' S  P I C K S

colleen from lemon thistle is making over her office and shared 9 practical tips for creating an inspiring workspace. her tips are great and space adorable, and she totally made my day when i spied my love you free printable on her wall! check out her post and play a little game of i-spy and see if you can spot it. i was tickled to pieces!

how can i resist the chance to put eye candy like this shot of oscar de la renta on my blog? nicki from t-shirt & jeans has some lessons on creativity from the iconic designer which i found very insightful.

i'm very inspired by how colour saturated life used scraps and paint to create artwork. don't these wood slats look like cool skis or something? this is exactly what found & foraged is all about- looking for the beauty in what's around you and looking past the present to the potential. great job, gilly!

for my lovely blog friends, now it's your turn! link up using the blue button below. it is a treat to see what you are working on & thank you for sharing it at found & foraged. we've been loving getting to know more and more of you through this party!

easy boho braid tutorial by lauren mcbride

have you guys visited lauren mcbride's blog yet? i featured her easy bright-eyes makeup tutorial last week. she's been linking up with us almost every week and making us swoon over her beautiful relaxed style. her blog is really worth checking out.

you guys may remember summer from simple stylings blog from way back when she guest posted for my lakeside cabin "remodel." i just love her blog and love this project!

i'm trying to eat a little healthier these days and i happen to *love* kale & brussel sprouts salads, so this one is on my must-try list.

my young momma friends will sooo appreciate this post. i remember when my firstborn first started walking and i switched to a padded ottoman instead of a sharp-cornered coffee table about two seconds after he took that first step. (and wished i could live in an entirely padded house about a minute after that, am i right?!). stephanie from mommyzoid has some great ways to transition a room into babyland without sacrificing style. now if only she had a way to keep the kids from smearing it with peanut butter and yogurt....but one thing at a time.

for my lovely blog friends- link up using the blue button below! it is a treat to see what you are working on & thank you for sharing it at found & foraged. we've been loving getting to know more and more of you through this party!

last week's party took me in some directions on the web that i don't usually go. we had such diverse projects and blogs link up, that i actually spent a little longer than usual getting lost in them.

sometimes i get glassy-eyed at design projects because i've seen sooooooo many of them, so it was interesting and fun for me to take a bit of a turn from the norm. and truly, found & foraged doesn't have to be all houses and design all the time. i think it's about an attitude of ingenuity, creativity, and curation that extends across many genres. so i hope you'll enjoy seeing a few things i don't usually write about here at ASD- from gifts and parties for kids, to homemade donuts, to make-up tips and pantry organization (you're likely to never see that one here, heh).

lastly, i have to share this post from dana at chocolate and sunshine that gave me quite a chuckle:

this is the before picture of some deep cleaning and pantry organization she did that is quite inspiring (not gonna lie to you, my pantry looks worse than this as we speak), where she ended up with beautiful results AND proved her blog is aptly named. nice work, dana!

now it's your turn- what have you been working on? use the blue button to link it up below and then i'll see you again next saturday, 8 pm!

found & foraged link party no. 7

hello sweet friends and welcome back to found & foraged after our holiday break! it's 2015, a new year and a blank slate, so we're kind of starting over again with this party too. even though last time we had another round of wonderful posts linked up, they were almost all christmas crafts & decorating, or recipes that i am officially not allowed to eat anymore now that it's january. so we're going to show off a little bit of what grace, kyla, and i have been up to (in the non-holiday category) and then open up the link party to other bloggers ready to emerge from the holiday fog.

grace, my girl from the big reveal blog, featured a house tour in december that is not to be missed. her friends ron & michelle have such a unique and eclectic style...i am amazed at how they blended all of their treasures together and made it seamless. so inspiring! and that bookcase! i mean, come on, get in my house.

kyla, over at house of hipsters, started a book club. guess what? i've never in my life been a part of one! but i'm very tempted by the casual non-committal vibe she has going on AND i have been wanting to read #girlboss for the better part of a year now, so i really need to get on it. true confessions: i actually put it on hold at the library and then didn't even pick it up when they called - even though my library is one minute from my house and i could have gone to the drive-thru to get it. yeah, i am not the person you want in your book club. perhaps i'll have to deal with this character flaw on some sort of new years resolution list. help me kyla!

as for me, i looked back through all of december's posts, and the only one that wasn't holiday-themed was my office reveal (sorry about that! hope it wasn't overload for you)! in case you missed it, you can take a peek around the space where i work, which is also the one large project we can say we actually completed in 2014.

now it's your turn to show off! what have you guys been up to? link up your projects below and thanks for coming back to party with us in the new year!

(don't forget to tag your pictures #foundforaged on instagram too- we'll be regramming favorites!)
