my mental health morning (where i get to go to the library by myself one saturday a month and look through design magazines) kind of got cancelled for june. it's been bananas around here, and we were never able to make it happen.
on the plus side, our library just remodeled their kids zone, and my kiddos actually like going there now. so in the end i was able to get one semi-distracted hour of looking through magazines with one eye while i had the other eye on toddlers. has anyone ever wondered why they hit each other so much?
i don't really mind this (the setting, i mean. not the hitting; i mind the hitting), because i got to write this post without ditching my family...and if that can happen more often it's likely ryan will let me keep blogging. that would be good for me.
all that to say, i would have liked to post this earlier in the month. i'm banking on the fact that you haven't been obsessively checking my site every morning wondering and ranting about where the heck your magazine round up is. if you have been, i'm so sorry (on more levels than one).
let's dig in!
from country living, june 2014, "sunny style" issue:
i loved the simple charm of anna hilegass's loft, located just above her darling minneapolis foundry shop. her kitchen, above, sports an island she made herself and pendants from her boutique.
her whole space is truly marvelous, worth a look through the rest of the gallery at country living.
from the connecticut farmhouse of carpet designer ellen allen:
kitchen...drool and swoon. repeat.
a classic black & white exterior. if you've ever seen my exteriors board on pinterest, you know i'm a sucker for this style.
from elle decor, june 2014, "best of the best" issue:
from madeline stuart's arts & crafts cottage in beverly hills:
from madeline stuart's arts & crafts cottage in beverly hills:
call me crazy, but i looooooove wild wallpaper, especially in a powder room, where you just get a taste of it for moments at a time.
from a historic harlem brownstone decorated by sheila bridges:
i love that branch stuff going on around the mirror. so cool.
from dwell, june 2014, "modern for all" issue:
office & master bedroom. when i was 12, i decorated my own room for the first time, and it was all black & white with a few red accents. i still find myself drawn to that scheme: black and white with bright pops of color (although now i prefer pink or yellow to red. and i definitely question the wave lamp and 3-piece framed porsche poster).
from house beautiful, june 2014, "make it easy breezy" issue:
i am a huge fan of blue toile wallpaper, and also a huge fan of layering blues in a bedroom. my grandma had an all-blue room where she had different blue wallpapers on the walls and ceiling, a blue quilt, blue marble tiles on the fireplace, even blue carpet. it was awesome. that woman had style!
louvered shutters in the entryway.
perfect built-ins in the mudroom.
and, um, the most incredible shower ever.
a garage and studio by lawrence architecture, and a sweet pool.
from travel + leisure, june 2014, "great seaside getaways" issue, (again the winner for best cover, wow):
outside the husk restaurant in charleston, south carolina.
a guest room from the salt house inn in provincetown, massachusetts.
well, friends, those were my favorites from this month. what were yours?
and in case you missed it, visit the winners from last month, including the most crave-worthy lake house, more excuses for my procrastination and this bathroom...
sigh. so good. bye for now, lovelies!
